We are in the middle of winter and the Island is very quiet. There are more locals than visitors about and yet the sun is still shining and the beauty of the place never changes.
The election of the new pope reminds us of the importance of who we are and our mission in life. In his first speech at the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica, Pope Leo XIV started with the greeting “Peace be with you all” and quoted the saying of St Augustine “For you I am a bishop but with you I am a Christian”.
This year we celebrate Easter and ANZAC day a week apart and the spirit of Easter and ANZAC reminds us of the sacrifices and hopes of many who have gone before us.
