Welcome New Students

We are very happy to welcome a new family to Lord Howe – Rebecca and Darryl with their two boys Miles and Leon. The boys are a great addition to our school, showing care and respect and fitting in straight away, and we look forward to sharing the next few years with them and their family.

Special Visit

On Thursday 16th May, students enjoyed a very special visit with biologist Dr Peggy Rismiller from the Pelican Lagoon Research & Wildlife Centre on Kangaroo Island. Dr Peggy is a world-renowned expert on the echidna, and she shared her knowledge of and passion for this iconic little Australian with us all. Dr Peggy brought along books, activities, echidna spines and other artefacts to have the kids and adults enthralled.

Student Strengths

In our K-2 classroom, we have spent time working on recognising our own strengths and those of our classmates. The kids are doing some excellent work across the sessions, especially when we came to write and draw our “Superhero” strength recently. Pictured is young Pele from Year 2 with her work. Very clever kids at Lord Howe Island Central School!

Mother’s Day

I know Mother’s Day was a while ago, but if you haven’t already seen our student tributes to the special women in their lives, then you are really missing out. Go to our Facebook Page to check it out for yourselves here.

Reward for Eager Yoga Students

A bunch of keen yogis were rewarded with a special yoga class earlier this term. The students have been regularly coming along to the weekly Wednesday yoga classes, and so, as a reward for their commitment, they headed to the foreshore to enjoy a beautiful session with Nikki from Lord Howe Yoga.

Joke of the Month

Police were called to a daycare where a three-year-old was resisting a rest.

I used to have a fear of hurdles, but I got over it!

Last thought

It’s not what you gather, but what you scatter.
